Human Resources Documentation Centralization
at The Mississippi Adolescent Center & Boswell Regional Center
Mississippi Adolescent Center & Boswell Regional Center
Boswell Regional Center is one of five regional facilities in the state established to treat those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Boswell Regional Center operates under the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, which provides a continuum of care and services for thousands of Mississippians with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our center's main facility is located off Highway 49 in Magee, Mississippi, 40 miles south of Jackson, the state capital. Other facilities operated by Boswell are located in Mendenhall, Brookhaven, Wesson, Hazlehurst, Taylorsville, and Bay Springs.

Mississippi Adolescent Center is under the umbrella of Boswell Regional Center and is located off Highway 51 in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Human Resources is one of many departments in both facilities that work hand in hand to make sure the best employees are serving our individuals. Documents and form are a crucial part of Human Resources in obtaining information on applicants as well as current employees.

Project Problem
The Mississippi Adolescent Center (MAC) and Boswell Regional Center (BRC) faced significant challenges in managing HR documentation due to its split-location structure across two counties. HR processes were slowed by fragmented document storage, manual form handling, and difficulty accessing up-to-date materials. This decentralized system not only delayed processing but also created inefficiencies and compliance risks, especially when time-sensitive documents required signatures from geographically dispersed staff.
Fragmented Storage
There was no centralized location for HR documents accessible to all staff across both counties. This led to confusion and wasted time searching for the correct forms.
Manual Processing Delays
Documents were still being printed, signed by hand, scanned, and emailed. This outdated method caused delays and increased the risk of errors or lost paperwork.
Version Control Issues
Without a standard system, staff often used outdated forms, creating inconsistencies and requiring follow-up corrections that further delayed HR tasks.
Geographic Challenges
The HR department was physically split between Simpson and Lincoln counties, making it difficult to coordinate signatures and deliver forms within required timeframes.
